Upholstery

I picked up the upholstery for the boat last week and finally got it installed over the weekend.  I still have the speakers to put back in on the side panels, but I want to get stainless machine screws instead of wood screws.  There is a wrinkle in the spotter seat cushion that I would like to see if we can fix, but I'm very happy with the rest of it.

Multiport Fuel Injection

The wiring for the MicroSquirt is complete.  I still need to complete the wiring for the drive by wire system, install the mechanical fuel pump, bolt down the fuel filter/high pressure pump and install the spark plug wires.  The weather is not looking great, but I hope to be able to start it this weekend.

Multiport Fuel Injection

The VR sensor and trigger wheel are mounted, the tabs to hold the wiring for the VR and O2 sensor wires are in place, the fuel pressure regulator is mounted, the fuel rails have been fully machined, hold downs made and installed and the coils have been mounted.  I need to get a few fuel lines and start the wiring.

Multiport Fuel Injection

The intake manifold is finished and installed on the boat.  I've tested the fit of the injectors, fuel rail and throttle body and I'm very happy with how it has all worked out.  I still need to make the fuel rail hold downs, but the sensors are all installed in the manifold.

Multiport Fuel Injection

This weekend I managed to get the welding, grinding, texturing and machining done on the intake manifold as well as the machining on the fuel rails.  Everything is starting to come together.  I have the MicroSquirt modified to support bluetooth communication and use a VR sensor for the crank position as well.

Drive by Wire

The potentiometers are now mounted and wired into the throttle arm.  The cable that goes from there back to the computer is built and I have been doing some testing.  The noise problem is pretty bad, so I think I will have to build a low pass filter.  I think I can also output a signal from the Arduino to simulate a TPS so I don't have to mount a proper one.

Drive by Wire

Today I got the servo motors attached to the throttle body.  It looks like it will work quite well, but I am having some noise issues with the reading of the potentiometers.  I'll try to smooth it out in software, but I may have to build a low pass filter so I don't lose throttle response time.

Drive by Wire

I've taken the last couple days to work on the boat among other things and made some really good progress.  The throttle arm has been totally disassembled, cleaned and lubed.  In addition, the old mechanical linkage has been removed and 2 potentiometers have been mounted on the back instead.  This was all done with no modifications to the arm itself, so I can put the cable back if I want.

Throttle Body

The new throttle body has arrived.  I have taken it apart because I plan to paint the throttle shafts and plates with a high tech paint used on internal gun parts.  It will help to protect the mild steel parts from rusting, this is a boat after all.  It will also help to lubricate the shafts where they pass through the bronze bushings in the throttle body.  The paint is on order and will be here soon.

Intake Modifications

The first step in converting this thing to EFI is to add material at the end of the runners so I can machine them for fuel injectors.  I could have bought bungs to weld in, but I like  look of the injector being mounted right in the runner itself.  I have not decided how I'm going to finish the manifold yet, but I have plenty of time to figure it out.
